The scientific study...

One study involving 44,778 twins from Sweden was done to show how much genetic factors were involved in cancer risks. This is a very large study indeed. The genes of twin are much more identical than brothers and sisters. (As a matter of fact, identical twins have identical genes!) If genetics were the main factor, the twins would be expected to have similar risks for the different cancers. That's what is to be expected.

The researcher made an important statement when they said that the "environment has the principal role in causing ... cancer." In other words, we can beat cancer by making better diet and lifestyle choices. This article will focus on those factors for which we can directly control.

Fiber Try to get 30 grams of fiber daily from diet or fiber supplements. Read package contents and select whole grain cereal or whole grain bread products high in fiber.
Water Drink lot of water. This will help your body flush out toxins and prevent it from being dehydrated.
Green Tea Drink green tea. It contains antioxidants and other chemicals that helps to prevent cancer (stomach, throat and liver).
Good Fats Choose olive oil and flaxseed oil when possible. Omega-3's found in fish oil is highly beneficial for total health.

Preservatives Avoid nitrates, sulphites and preservatives found in canned goods. These include meats from the deli department such as salami, bologna and hot dogs.

Avoid potato chips or any types of junk foods.
Saturated Fats Avoid saturated fats. These are commonly found in animal and dairy products. Avoid trans fats as much as possible.
