Chromium
Picolinate Doesn't Benefits Those Who Are at Risk of Developing
Diabetes, Study Shows
October
8, 2009
Chromium picolinate is a very popular supplement used by diabetics for
lowering their blood sugar levels.
A
well-designed clinical
study involving 63 non-diabetic over weight
patients showed that taking 1,000 mcg of chromium didn't
have any effect on glucose metabolism, body weight and cholesterol
levels.
So the bottom line is that those people not suffering from diabetes
won't get any benefits from taking chromium supplements.
Be careful here! This study does not tell you if chromium would help if
you are
suffering from
diabetes.
Fortunately, there are many clinical studies showing that chromium
can lower your blood sugar level in people with diabetes. You'll need
to make sure that your dose is at least 400 mcg daily. Lower doses of
chromium doesn't seem to be effective at all.
