| Coleus |
Also known as forskolin, this herb can open the airways and reduce spasm of the airway muscles.
Dose: Take 50 to 100 mg two or three times daily. |
| Ginkgo |
Ginkgo is a popular herb used to improve memory. It may be
effective in treating asthma because it blocks a chemical called PAF
(platelet-activating factor) that can induce an asthma attack.
Dose: Take 120 to 240 mg of the standardized extract three times daily. |
| Lobelia |
Traditionally, lobelia is used to treat bronchitis and coughs.
Dose: Take 0.6 to 2.0 mL of the tincture up to three times daily. 100 mg of the raw leaf may be used. |
| Fennel |
This herb is used traditionally to help with coughs, bronchitis, and lung infections. It is a rich source of vitamin C and beta-carotene. It can be helpful in cutting down on asthma symptoms.
Dose: Take 0.1 to 0.6 mL of the fennel oil daily for 14 days. Tea: Prepare using 1 to 2 grams of the crushed seeds in 250 mL (1 cup) of boiling water.

| Locorice | This herb helps reduce inflammation in the airways and may improve lung function.
Dose: Take 1 to 4 grams of the powdered root daily (divided into three or four times daily). Fluid extract: Take 2 to 4 mL daily or as directed by the manufacturer. |
| Mullein | This is one of the oldest medicinal plants known. It has been used to treat coughs in asthmatics.
Dose: Tea: Use 1.5 to 2 grams of the herb in 250 mL (1 cup) of boiling water. Tincture (1:1): Take 7.5 to 10 mL twice daily or as directed by the manufacturer. |
