Chamomile Tea |
Drinking
chamomile tea is the classically method of inducing sleep. Drink a cup
just before going to bed to help calm and relax the body. It reduces
anxiety and act as a mild sedative.

Honey |
Add
two teaspoonfuls (10 mL) of honey in a glass of lukewarm hot water and
drink about 30 minutes to 1 hour before bedtime. You may also add honey
to celery juice.

Nutmeg |
Nutmeg is often used to help children
sleep. It can be added to honey as well.

Cumin Seeds &
Banana |
Grind some cumin seeds and mix with banana
to form a paste. Take before bedtime.

Sorrel
(Rumex acetosa) |
Mix the liquid from the leaves of the
sorrel with its oil and massage this into the scalp nightly to promote
better sleep.

Lavender Oil |
The
smell of lavender oil can induce a calming effect on the mind and body.
Use several drops of lavender oil in a bowl of hot water placed on the
night table. This will allow the aroma to spread out in the bedroom.
As well, adding lavender oil into warm bath water or liquid soap can be
helpful.

Chamomile Oil |
Aromatherapy
using chamomile oil may relax the body and mind, allowing a restful
night of sleep. Add 10 drops into bath and soak.
You can also use several drops of chamomile oil in a bowl of hot water
to diffuse the aroma in the bedroom.

Lettuce |
Certain
vegetables such as lettuce can help treat insomnia. They contain a
sleep-inducing chemical called lectucarium. Having a lettuce salad at
dinnertime can help induce sleep.

Ylang-ylang
Patchouli
(or Patchouly)
Marjoram |
The oils of these herbs has been used
to treat insomnia. Add to
bath water or make a massage oil using 10 to 12 drops in 100 mL of
massage
oil.
Or add several drops in a bowl of hot water and place it in the bedroom
to allow the aroma to spread.
