How much of the vegetable do I have to eat to get an effective dose?

It may not be practical to get all the health benefits of maca by eating vegetables. You may have to eat a very large amount of maca root to get to the dosage used in research studies. Using maca supplements is a more practical method if you intend to treat ED or boost libido.

However, with mild cases of ED or lowered libido, eating several servings of maca root daily can prove to be helpful in many people.

Typically, Peruvians could eat about 100 grams of the maca root daily with their meals.

What is the recommended effective dosage?

In studies done in male volunteers, the typical dosage ranges from 1,500 to 3,000 mg (milligrams) once daily. It may have to be taken for up to four months.

Traditionally, dosage as high as 6,000 mg daily (divided into three doses) have be used.

For concentrated extracts, 450 mg have been used twice daily.
