Butterbur is traditionally use for treating headaches including
migraines.
Several studies show that taking butterbur can prevent migraine as well
as reducing the frequency, intensity and duration of the pain.

Dose:Take
50 to 75 mg of a standardized extract (referenced to 15% of petasin and
isopetasin) twice daily for up to four months.

Q10 |

One study
done in volunteers show that taking coenzyme Q10 reduces the severity
and numbers of migraines. These studies were done in both adults and
children.
However, a more recent well-designed study (May 2011) showed that taking CoQ10 with conventional therapy was no better than just with the conventional therapy alone. (This study used 100 mg daily.)

Take 100 mg three times daily. It may take up to 3 months to see a good

Vitamin B2

Several
studies, including a well-designed clinical study showed that taking
400 mg daily of vitamin B2 reduce the number and severity of migraine
headaches.

Take 400 mg once daily along with a B-complex vitamin. It may take up to 3 months to see good results.

Taking
5-hydroxytryptophan is shown to reduce symptoms and severity of
migraines.
Low serotonin levels in the brain is
suspected to be partly responsible for migraines. 5-HTP seems to
boost serotonin levels.
Dose:Take

Several studies show that taking SAM-e reduces symptoms in some people with migraine headaches.

substance calling prostaglandins (PG's).
