Serrapeptase
Dosage - How Much Should I Use?
What is the best serrapeptase dosage to use?
Also
known as serratiopeptidase, this versatile digestive enzyme is
extensively used in Japan and European countries for over 25 years to
treat various
ailments.
This proteolytic enzyme shows excellent anti-inflammatory benefits so
it can be used to treat arthritis, sinus problems, swelling and pain.
It is able to break down mucus in the lungs so people suffering from
COPD may see some benefits.
There are some experts who believe that it possesses anti-aging effects
as well.
Let's find out what doses of serrapeptase have been used in clinical
studies...
Serrapeptase
Dose from Clinical Studies and Commercial Products
Dental
pain
In this study,
the researcher found that taking 5 mg of serrapeptase for treating
dental pain after tooth extraction was significantly more effective in
reducing pain and swelling compared to taking a placebo (sugar pill).
Night time
leg cramps
In this study,
the subjects took 10 mg three times daily. This dose was
effective for treating inflammation of veins in 65% of the
volunteers.
Combination
pain relief medications
A product
called ParFlex contains 500 mg acetaminophen, 100 mg aceclofenac and 15
mg serratiopeptidase. It is used in India for the control of pain.
Taking 2 tabs four times daily would give a daily dose of 120
mg of serrapeptase.
Maximum
recommended serrapeptase dosage?
Dr. Sahelian
and Dr. Hans Nieper, proponents of the health benefits of Serrapeptase,
recommend limiting a daily dosage to one pill, or 200 mg daily
(equivalent to 20,000 IU).
Buy enteric-coated tablets or capsules if possible as they are able to
pass through the
stomach intact. (Serrapeptase is destroyed by the acid found in the stomach.) The special coating only dissolves in the alkaline
environment of the intestine, releasing the digestive enzyme.
The bottom line?
Most clinical
studies seem to use 30 mg daily for treating various inflammatory
conditions. Higher doses (but no higher than 200 mg) would be safe for
most people.
Always consult a healthcare professional before taking serrapeptase.
