Recommendations - How to use tea tree oil for impetigo
Some experts have suggested apply 100% concentrated tea tree oil onto the infected skin three times daily. However, this may cause excessive skin irritation.
A better suggestion is to make a 50% tea tree oil solution by mixing with equal parts of water. (See Tea Tree Oil Dilution for more details on how to make this.)
Apply the 50% solution with a dropper (or Q-Tip) three times daily.
Another option is to make a 50% tea tree oil gel by using aloe vera gel instead of water. However, we recommend a water-based treatment formula as it can better spread and make contact with the infected skin (compared to using a gel).
Keeping your immune system healthy is essential. It will allow your own body's immune cells fight off the infection. A product like Immunity Plus can be a useful addition if you suffer from a lowered immune system.
Bottom line
For most cases, using home remedies like tea tree oil can be effective in curing impetigo.
If the infection involves a larger area or is spreading to multiple areas, see a doctor for proper treatment.
